Trustees Visit to Kenya

In October 2018, Karen (Chairman) and Keith (Treasurer) traveled to Kenya to visit the people and projects Zest for Life work with.

Our visits are short but packed with meetings, greetings, smiles and not a little emotion.

This time we visited two schools new to us - Agoro Lieye Primary in Siaya and Magunga Secondary in Kaitito - our partner schools Innis and Miriu and both of the womens groups we support - Jefna and Siatok. We also had the opportunity to meet our university students in Kisumu and catch up with old friends Martin and Joseph.

At Miriu, Karen 'officially' opened the new girls latrine block and both were treated to musical and comedy presentations from the students.

At Innis, they were met by the interim Head Teacher and Board of management members, shared porridge with the nursery children and had a tour of the classrooms. Later that afternoon, Karen and Keith had the chance to meet and speak to the parents of students on the secondary school bursary scheme. Queenter was part of the team for both school visits and gave motivational speeches to the students on each occasion.

The women's groups were both excited to speak about the hugely successful training courses they have completed and were keen to share their plans for the future which included new enterprise schemes and follow on work secured as a direct result of the training
